Michael Sweetman is a skilled attorney with broad experience in business and estate planning, criminal law, military law, family law and various litigation that arises from each of those practice areas. Mike draws on his prior experience as a military prosecutor and deputy prosecutor for the City and County of Honolulu in his robust litigation practice. Mike has litigated myriad serious criminal cases including sexual assaults and other crimes against women, violent assaults, computer related crimes, human trafficking, and serious drug offenses in both federal and state court. In his civil practice, Mike has litigated disputes related to trusts and estates, real property, commercial transactions, and various other areas. Mike embodies the firm’s philosophy of providing strategic representation. Whether helping a client seize an opportunity, solve a problem, or engage in litigation, Mike has the knowledge and experience to understand the client’s goals and provide the right advice to get results. When litigation is required, Mike is a zealous and tenacious advocate.

Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Sweetman was a business consultant specializing in employee benefits at a large firm in Chicago. He attended The John Marshall Law School in the evenings while working full time. He graduated in the upper 25% of his class.

Mike is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association, the California Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He also continues to serve the country and his Hawaii community as a lieutenant colonel and a Judge Advocate in the Hawaii Army National Guard.
